Bedbugs control
Bites in lines, dark spots on bedding and a musty smell. Bedbugs spread through luggage, second-hand furniture and matatus - and they do not go away on their own.
Signs you have bedbugs
- Itchy bites in lines or clusters, usually on arms, neck and back
- Small dark blood spots or black droppings on sheets, mattress seams and bed frames
- Shed skins and tiny white eggs in mattress piping and furniture joints
- A sweet, musty smell in a heavily infested room
How we treat bedbugs
Bedbugs hide in seams, sockets and cracks, and their eggs survive most sprays. We treat mattresses, bed frames, furniture joints and skirting with a combination of residual spray and dust, then schedule a follow-up visit after 10 to 14 days to catch newly hatched nymphs. One visit alone rarely clears an established infestation.
Before we arrive
- Strip bedding and wash it hot, then dry on high heat
- Do not move infested furniture to other rooms - it spreads them
- Clear items from under beds so the technician can treat the frame
- Plan to be out of treated rooms for 4 to 6 hours
Bedbugs are our most common call-out in Nairobi hostels, apartments and hotels. Early treatment is cheaper - a single-room case caught early is far easier to clear than one that has spread through the house.
